Nine emotions

Indian classical aesthetics names nine rasas: nine emotional registers a work of art can hold. Across three days in Milan, they are the register of the cultural programme: live craft, talks, and fashion moments running alongside the trade floor.

Shringara

Silk brocade woven with gold zari. The rasa of adornment, carried by the textiles on the floor.

Jamdani muslin, its supplementary-weft motif floating on translucent cotton

Hasya

The lightness of the public days: colour, workshops, discovery.

Marigold garlands and scattered flower petals

Karuna

Craft as livelihood. Every technique on the floor sustains a workshop, a family, a region.

Jamdani on the loom, the motif half-formed in the warp

Raudra

Terracotta, kiln and dye-vat. The heat inside every finished surface.

Fire and embers beneath a copper dyeing vat

Veera

One hundred and thirty makers crossing a continent for a first edition.

Hand-crafted Kolhapuri leather sandals

Bhayanaka

Standing before a loom that holds ten thousand threads in tension.

A shaft of light falling across dark gold-woven silk

Bibhatsa

The trained eye that rejects nine samples and keeps the tenth. Quality as a discipline.

Fine even hand-stitching along a pressed seam

Adbhuta

The first encounter with a technique you did not know existed.

Pochampally ikat, its motif edges feathered by resist-dyeing the yarn before weaving

Shanta

The quiet at the end of the working day: cloth folded, tools set down.

A length of undyed handwoven cloth

The Womb of OM

OM as the shape of the universe: a continuous cycle of creation, existence, and return. Drawn from temple carvings where life emerges inside forms of sacred sound, the installation holds the idea that origin is kept within the symbol itself.

The umbilical cord becomes the visual thread of life, joining beginning and becoming in one unbroken flow. Visitors pass through a tunnel of origin, vibration, and spatial transition, and move through cycles of birth, growth, and return.

Feel it on the floor.
